about

Bootleg CAC!

Well, not exactly. This is a board recording made by the dude who was running sound at the Tonic Lounge the night of this show. We had no idea he was recording it — he just handed me a CD of our set when I went back to thank him after we hopped off stage. Apparently it was something he was into doing, or maybe he was trying his hand at live mixing…? I don't remember.

Whatever the case, it's the only live recording of a CAC show that I'm aware of (not counting some hand-held video footage that we've got stashed somewhere), and it's been sitting in my closet for almost eight years. I came across it while hunting down and preparing some other CAC rarities for a much-delayed release, and thought a few people might enjoy it. So here it is.

A few notes:

This is not the complete show. The reason this thing starts in the middle of a song is because that's where it starts on the CD I have. I think the sound guy may not have had it all rigged up right from the get-go, because there's about five minutes of silence at the beginning of the disc. This is when we played our intro, as well as "Bill Madlock" and "Roman Polanski." So those are the songs that we played that night that are missing from this recording.

We played with Buttery Lords at this show, and there must have been another band, but I can't find any evidence of who it was.

This was the same night that the footage for our "Dizz Hicks" video was shot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVo0ZNiUSrU

"Tonic Ambience" is just a track of crowd noise after our set ended. It was on the CD, so I included it. You can make out some funny conversations here and there.

"Getting Worse with Time" features a rare guest verse from our friend Dr. Dold, who knew the lyrics to our songs and would often fill in for people who didn't show up when they said they were going to. Good man to have around.

This show also features guest spots from our pal Cullen Drain, aka C-Dog, aka Drainberg, aka The Main Stain, aka DRZA 3:16, aka the Drainiac. He's in rare form during this one.

The recording quality on this isn't insanely great, but I'm just glad it exists. And it's free, so pipe down.

Hope you like it.
